Introdução: O implante de válvula transcateter é uma intervenção cirúrgica com potencial menos invasivo do que outras cirurgias convencionais de troca da valva aórtica. Este tratamento se torna uma ótima alternativa para aqueles pacientes que possuem comorbidades e/ou idade avançada, isso se dá pela sua alta eficiência e baixo risco do procedimento, além de apresentar benefícios a curto e longo prazo, ademais a recuperação do paciente é consideravelmente rápida para a complexidade desta patologia. Objetivos: Compreender os benefícios da utilização da técnica TAVI (implante transcateter de valva aórtica) em detrimento a cirurgia convencional em pacientes diagnosticados com estenose aórtica e que possuem comorbidades e/ou idade avançada. Material e métodos: Foi realizada uma revisão de literatura integrativa usando os bancos de dados MSD manuais e Scielo, aplicando os descritores “Estenose aórtica”; “TAVI” e “Tratamento estenose aórtica”. Usou-se como critério de inclusão os artigos em inglês e português que estivessem no período de 2015 a 2021. Resultados: Este procedimento TAVI, apresentam como principais benefícios a sua alta taxa de eficiência e a rápida recuperação do paciente no que se refere ao procedimento cirúrgico, haja vista que ocorre com uma pequena incisão para obter o acesso ao coração, percorrendo inicialmente pela artéria femoral até a artéria aorta ascendente, para que ocorra a instalação de forma anatomicamente correta à valva aórtica, sendo que sua abertura e fechamento sejam adequados. Conclusão: Através do procedimento TAVI é possível realizar a troca da valva aórtica com uma cirurgia menos invasiva e com um tempo de recuperação reduzido em comparação a uma cirurgia convencional.
