Introdução: A pandemia do novo coronavírus, trouxe inúmeras limitações tanto sanitárias quanto sociais, estas situações restringiram ou modificaram a forma de cuidar das pessoas que são chamadas de grupo de risco, no qual há a deficiência no sistema imune, que no caso os neonatos se enquadram, devido sua imunidade ainda ser imatura. Objetivo: Analisar na literatura estudos sobre cuidados para recém nascidos de mães com suspeitas ou positivas para a presença da covid-19. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura com busca nas bases de dados da Biblioteca virtual da Saúde (BVS) tendo os descritores “infecção”, “recém-nascido” e “covid-19”, com seleção de 5 artigos de 2020 a 2021, atendendo ao objetivo do estudo. Resultados: Em relação aos cuidados do recém nascidos, muitos autores concordarem com medidas restritivas, porém, divergem em alguns tópicos como o aleitamento materno, clampeamento do cordão umbilical e o contato pele a pele (CPP), visto que não há um consenso e nem evidência comprobatória de transmissão vertical do vírus, sabendo da importância de atitudes profiláticas, cada local ou entidade decide como intervir na situação. Ao amamentar e no CPP as mães positivas ou assintomáticas devem redobrar sua higienização para evitar que haja a contágio do RN, o uso de máscara, toucas e roupas limpas é essencial, antes da aproximação, ampliando esse cuidado para os familiares e enfermeiros. Quanto ao clampeamento, varia de acordo com o nascimento, se termo, seria imediato, se houver um pré termo, ainda se aguardará um intervalo de 30 a 60 segundos antes da ruptura, haja vista que segundo o Ministério da Saúde só haveria a separação após cessar da pulsação, mas, com o receio de transmissão essa atitude foi alterada. Conclusão: Hodiernamente medidas são tomadas baseados em fatores empíricos devido à incipiência de informações, na qual os cuidados são pautados no que melhor se adequa a situação encontrada, havendo o consenso que a higienização adequada das mãos e a restrição de pessoas sintomáticas são a melhor maneira de se evitar a infecção ao RN, considerando que seu sistema imunológico está se adaptando ao meio extrauterino, deixando falho para combater o agente invasor.
